Modacrylic
A fiber in the same group as acrylic, but with a different composition — it is a fiber whose polymer is made up of 60% vinyl chloride and 40% Acrylonitrile (Vinyl cyanide). Its trade names are Dynel and Verel. It has properties similar to acrylic fiber, but differs in that its heat resistance is lower.
Uses
Used to make carpets, blankets, winter coats, faux fur, and wigs, as well as the long pants worn by electrical line workers.
Care
Modacrylics are prone to losing their appearance due to improper care, so it is important to know how to care for modacrylic. Modacrylics are resistant to acids, mild alkalis, and organic solvents. These fibers are also resistant to moths, mildew, and sunlight. Modacrylic fabric can be machine washed using warm water and tumble dried at a low temperature. Modacrylic garments can also be dry cleaned.
No matter which washing machine brand is good or which dryer brand is good, you still need to check its functions carefully first to see whether it can wash or dry that type of fabric.
